Qasim’s Priorities
AFFORDABILITY CRISIS
As a child, Qasim experienced poverty and would go to bed hungry. As a public defender in Helena, he sees that same struggle happening every day for too many Montana families.
Groceries cost more. Rent keeps climbing. Gas prices are out of control. Wages haven't kept up. Working full-time should be enough to keep a roof over your head, put food on the table, and live a comfortable life. That's why Qasim will fight to lower the cost of living and make sure Montana is still a place where hard work pays off.
REPRODUCTIVE RIGHTS
MAGA Republicans have already banned abortion in states across the country. Now, Montana Republicans want to throw women in jail for seeking abortion care right here in Montana.
Qasim believes every woman deserves access to safe and legal abortion care. He'll fight back against any attempt to criminalize a woman's right to choose in Montana.
BUILD MORE HOUSING
Montana is facing a housing crisis that is impacting local economies across the state. Working families are being priced out of their communities, and many more are barely able to pay rent.
That's why Qasim will push to cut red tape to build more housing, protect tenants' rights, and bring costs down so that working Montanans can actually afford a place to live here.
CREATE GOOD-PAYING JOBS
Qasim's family moved across the country chasing work when he was growing up. He knows what it means when jobs don't pay enough for families to set down their roots.
We need to grow Montana's economy by bringing in new businesses and creating real opportunity here at home. Qasim will fight for good-paying union jobs, fair wages, and the worker protections that let Montana families live and stay in the communities they love.
PUBLIC LANDS
It was Montana’s public lands that made Qasim put down roots here 18 years ago. He understands that our public lands belong to all of us, not just the wealthy.
In the Legislature, Qasim will fight to protect our public lands from privatization, expand access for everyday Montanans, and make sure our forests, rivers, and open spaces stay open to everyone.
PUBLIC EDUCATION
Public schools helped set Qasim on a path to the University of Montana, where he earned his law degree and went on to become a public defender fighting for people who can't afford to fight for themselves. Every Montana child deserves that same opportunity.
Qasim will protect public education and make sure our schools have what they need to give every child, regardless of their background or zip code, a real chance at a good future.
